8th Workshop: Call for Papers
A fragmenting global economy
Economic and geo-political shocks and international / regional trade and investment agreements among advanced and emerging countries.
The 8th Workshop organized by OEET will be held on December 1-2, 2022 in presence in Turin or in hybrid form (partly in presence and partly on-line) depending on the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic.
OEET invites abstract submissions for paper presentation on the workshop topic.
Since 2008 economic and geopolitical shocks, such as the Global Financial Crisis and the ensuing Great Recession, the US-China trade war, the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, severely damaged the world economy. How have these shocks affected global relations among advanced and emerging economies and the global/regional value chains?
Over the past decades, difficulties in multilateral trade negotiations within the World Trade Organization led to a generalized focus shift to regional trade-investment agreements (RTAs), which have not only increased in number but also in depth and complexity. Emerging economies are central to the recent trend towards “mega-regionals” such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) among Asia-Pacific nations. There are, however, mixed views as to RTAs’ impact on global trade liberalization.
Scholars interested in presenting a paper at the Workshop are invited to submit an abstract in English of up to 300 words by October 15, 2022 to:
